How our online solicitor services work

Which service do you need?

You need to decide whether one or more of our online solicitor services is right for you. To help, we have provided detailed explanations of the relevant law and procedures for a range of different circumstances. You can access this information free of charge, under “Undefended Divorce”.

Free registration

Before using any of our online solicitor services, you need to register for free, which is a very simple process. We recommend you use an email address which your spouse cannot access. Your details will never be used unless you order one of our services. You do not make any payment to us until you have completed one of our questionnaires, and then decide that you want to go ahead and order one of our services.

Online questionnaire

Once you are registered, choose which service you need and complete the appropriate online questionnaire. As we know it is unlikely that you will have all the information you need at your fingertips, the system allows you to add, save, return and add again as often as you like, when you like. To avoid delay, please complete all relevant questions in full. We welcome feedback on our questionnaires to help us improve our services.

What do we do?

We advise you every step of the way. We prepare all necessary court forms and covering letters for you to download, sign and send to the court. We explain exactly what you need to do, and when you need to do it. We tell you what court fees are payable and we explain how to deal with any queries raised by the court. We set out the legal effect at each stage of the process, and tell you what additional documents you need to provide.

Email communication

Almost all of our contact with you will be by email and online. You will never need to visit our office. When draft documents are ready for you to check, we will tell you by email and you will be able to access and amend them online. When final versions are ready for you to sign and send to the court, we will tell you by email and you will be able to download them securely from our website.

Litigant in Person

We will enable you to represent yourself stress-free as a Litigant in Person in any court proceedings. We will not contact the court, your spouse, or any other third parties directly on your behalf. To avoid delays, we will, however, arrange for the necessary papers to be sent directly to us from the court at the appropriate time.

What we don’t do

We do not provide any additional legal advice - for example, advising on whether or not any service that you order is the most appropriate for your particular circumstances. If you are not able to identify which service is right for you, or if you would prefer to be represented by a solicitor, we recommend that you contact a specialist family law firm such as josiah-lake gardiner LLP.
